Mission

The Creation Care Alliance brings people of faith from across the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains together to care for God's creation by loving our planet and our neighbors.

What We Do

As the faith-based program of MountainTrue, the Creation Care Alliance brings people of faith and faith communities in the Southern Blue Ridge together to care for creation—our human and non-human neighbors and the places we call home.

Through education, service, advocacy, and organizing, we offer congregations and people of faith a clear path to cultivating their environmental stewardship and ecological justice ministries while contributing to needed systemic change in the broader community.

We believe that faith communities and people of faith have a vital and unique role to play in movements for ecological and intersectional justice, and it is our honor and joy to support and empower that calling. Our work is an expression of our love. Our love is an expression of our faith.

Faith Identity

When we were first founded as WNC Green Congregations in 2012, our grassroots membership was made up of Christians and Jews from a variety of theological backgrounds. We were a rooted Abrahamic, Judeo-Christian community. We were also excited by the prospect of working alongside our siblings of other faiths and spiritualities to achieve our shared goal of creation care and ecological justice.

As we’ve grown, we have continued to expand our membership with the hope of forming a truly multi-faith network. We believe that we need each other’s wisdom and support to create a just and sustainable world and welcome people of all faith and spiritual backgrounds who share our values of love for neighbor and care for the planet.
