More about the event:
Finding the facts on the many electric vehicles (EVs) available in 2022 could occupy a potential buyer for weeks. On Saturday, August 13th, you can take a short cut and get the low down on everything to do with electric vehicles including the latest technology, makes and models, purchasing and operating costs, and more.
‘Electric Transporation: EV’s and Beyond’ is the third and last offering in our summer series devoted to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and now, electric transportation.
William Hite, the program speaker and an EV owner, developed a deep knowledge about electric vehicles at regional, national, and international conferences. Audience members will leave with an understanding of such basics as: types of EVs (hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), pros and cons of each, options for charging, tax and other credits or rebates, common EV misconceptions, and a look at our electrified future. “EV’s are so much more affordable over the long term than combustion alternative… Electric vehicle reservations and sales are skyrocketing, and costs are dropping, too. “
An EV car show will follow Mr. Hite’s presentation, and will take place in the FUMC parking lot on Academy Street opposite the church. Local and regional EV owners from the Blue Ridge Electric Vehicle Club will show their cars and answer questions from 11:30am – 2:00pm.
The transportation sector is estimated to contribute 25% of the carbon emissions that contribute to climate warming. Converting cars, trucks, busses and other forms of transit to net zero carbon emissions is a big step towards reducing greenhouse gases. Electric vehicles are coming…I hope you will join us for this interesting, informative, and entertaining program.
