NCUC Virtual Carbon Plan Hearing

August 23, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The NC Utilities Commission (NCUC) is hosting two virtual hearings on the 23rd. One will be held at 1:30 pm and one will be held at 6:30 pm.  These hearings are the last opportunity to give public feedback on Duke Energy’s proposed carbon plans, and it is important that the NCUC hear from people of faith and moral courage. If you are available, we encourage you to plan to attend and speak. Your personal story, concerns, values, and hopes as they relate to climate action are important and should be heard. Concerns like bill affordability and equitable energy production/availability are also important to uplift.

For tips on giving testimony, check out this webinar and watch from the 26-minute mark to minute 33. The webinar in its entirety will be helpful to better understanding the carbon plan and the NCUC hearing process.

You can learn more about the virtual hearings at this link: https://www.ncuc.net/Consumer/carbonplan.html. In order to give testimony during one of the virtual hearings, you must sign up to speak by the end of the day on August 16th. You can register to speak at a virtual hearing by emailing the Commission at ncucpublichearing@ncuc.netor by calling 919-733-0837.

To learn more about the implications and shortcomings of Duke Energy’s draft Carbon Plan and get the information you need to take action in support of our state’s clean energy future by checking out this blog from MountainTrue. Lastly, please be in prayer for this process, our leaders, and just climate action in our state and beyond.
