Conserve energy use in your facilities with these easy, low-cost steps
Suggested Practices and Examples for Implementation:
- Post signs above light switches asking folks to conserve energy by turning off lights when not in the room, etc.
- Set thermostats to energy-saving temperatures, especially when no one is in the building (evenings, specific days)
- This doesn’t have to be drastic to make a difference. Lower by just a few degrees in colder months and higher by just a few degrees in warmer months.
- Use power strips and turn off computers, copy machines, and other office equipment when not in use
- Set water heaters to the lowest practical temperature
- Collect and look at utility bills for the past 12 months
- This is one step to completing an energy audit. Knowing how much energy you use is essential to using less.
